First XMR without a Telegram chat “escrow admin”

Haveno-class desks want a security deposit in XMR. Instant swaps want a deposit address. Group folklore says: message a trusted trader on Telegram, use their escrow guy. That last path is how first balances disappear. This post is the bootstrap map that skips chat “escrow admin” theater.

The chicken-and-egg story

Many Tor P2P paths expect some XMR already (deposits, fees, small offers). Newcomers hear: buy a tiny bag from someone in a group. Sometimes that works with people you already know. Often it is a stranger with a third account that “holds” coins until screenshots look good.

Messenger architecture has no clawback. If the middleman is the product, you are the bank.

Longer pattern list: Telegram is not an escrow. Scare-SERP literacy: Never trade Monero on Telegram?.

Three bootstrap paths (no chat middleman)

PathWhat you doTrustTradeoff
A — CEX → withdraw → Instant swapBuy BTC/ETH/USDT where you already can; withdraw to your wallet; Instant to XMRExchange KYC (up front) + swap custody windowSpeed; watch post-deposit KYC — privacy tax
B — Instant onlyProvider deposit address (web or Telegram bot)Provider + handle hygieneMinutes; same tax stack — swap bots
C — Structured peer offerDomestic Monero Mini App: offers, stake, TX hash, 6 confirms, trade sharePeer + 2-of-3 multisig settlementNot Instant; need a supported crypto in
Three bootstrap paths to first XMR: CEX withdraw then swap, instant swap alone, and Domestic Monero peer offer — chat escrow crossed out.
Three doors — chat middleman is not a fourth.

Venue map: Four doors to XMR. Routes: Three routes to XMR.

Path C — first peer offer without DMs

  1. Verify @domestic_monero_botVerify official.
  2. Hold BTC, LTC, ETH, SOL, or USDT (ERC-20) in a wallet you control (from path A/B or an existing balance).
  3. Browse or accept a BUY/SELL offer (maker intent ≠ always your role).
  4. Seller stakes to Multisig Trade Wallet; buyer sends payment + TX hash.
  5. Wait 6 confirmations; keep the trade share offline.
  6. Receive XMR / Request refund when chips allow — never via a stranger’s “release” DM.
Trade state chips: Created, Staked, Payment pending, Verifying, Sending, Done.
Visible stages — not screenshot theater in a group chat.
caution

USDT = ERC-20 on Ethereum mainnet only. Wrong network can lose funds.

What never counts as bootstrap hygiene

  • Unsolicited “support” or “escrow” DMs
  • Moving the trade off the official Mini App “to finish faster”
  • Sharing a trade share in chat
  • Paying an unlock / AML / release fee to a stranger

Official help is /support on the bot with Trade #ref — nothing else.

FAQ

Do I need XMR before using Domestic Monero?
Buyers need a supported payment crypto. Sellers stake XMR. Path A/B can fund either side without chat escrow.

Is a “known” Telegram trader safe?
Reputation helps; chat still has no clawback. Prefer structured venues for strangers.

Can Instant fund a later Haveno deposit?
Often yes — that is a common bootstrap. Price the privacy tax before you send.

Where is the official Domestic Monero bot?
Only @domestic_monero_bot.
