Already hold crypto? Three routes to XMR — and the one most guides skip

If you already hold BTC, LTC, ETH, SOL, or USDT and want XMR, most public guides still give you two answers: instant swap, or desktop Tor P2P (Haveno-class / classifieds). There is a third route — peer offers inside a Telegram Mini App with staged settlement and no user-to-user chat. This post is a route map, not a memoir.

The three routes

RouteWhat you doFits whenTradeoffs
1. Instant swapPaste deposit address, send, wait for provider payoutMinutes matter; you accept a routing providerOpaque path; provider limits / KYC triggers on large size; not a peer offer
2. Desktop Tor P2P (Haveno-class / similar classifieds)Install client or use web classifieds; often fiat or cryptoYou need fiat rails, Tor-native flow, or on-chain multisig patternsSetup cost; different trust model; not “open Telegram and trade”
3. Structured Mini App peer offerBrowse/accept offers in Telegram; stake → proof → confirms → settleYou already live in Telegram; want a quoted peer rate and visible trade statesNot Instant; payment assets limited to the public list; ±20% band

Public “buy Monero” pages and LocalMonero-successor compare tables usually document 1 and 2. Route 3 is easy to miss — or gets mashed into “Telegram P2P,” which is a mess of unrelated machines (next section).

Tip: do not treat “Telegram P2P” as one thing

LabelWhat it usually isPractical tip
A — Chat dealGroup/DM seller, maybe a “community escrow” accountMessenger ≠ escrow. Whichever side sends first is the bank.
B — Underground escrowStranger-named “agent” / bot in DMsSame as A with extra theater.
C — Phishing Mini App / fake botLookalike handle, unsolicited “support”Verify before any send. Verify official.
D — Structured Mini AppOfficial bot deep link; offers; state chips; trade share offline; /support on that botDifferent risk class from A–C. Still not Instant, still not Haveno on-chain multisig.

Longer safety notes: Telegram is not an escrow · Support DM near-miss · Trading-bot wallet approval risk.

Decision tips (crypto already in hand)

  1. Need it in minutes and accept provider trust? → start with instant swap. Compare all-in spread + network fees.
  2. Need bank/cash rails or Tor-native desktop P2P?Haveno-class / classifieds. Domestic Monero does not ship fiat markets. Honest compare: Haveno vs Telegram Mini App.
  3. Want a peer offer, Telegram-native, no DM negotiation?structured Mini App (Domestic Monero’s public shape).
  4. Rate far outside market? → bait until proven otherwise. Domestic Monero’s public band is about ±20% vs reference rate.
  5. Anyone DMs “support” first? → hostile until you verify the official bot.
  6. Swap vs P2P side-by-side (speed vs lifecycle): Instant swap vs P2P.

FAQ

Is Domestic Monero an instant swap?
No. It is peer offers with staged settlement. Use a swap when you need Instant-class speed.

Is it Haveno?
No. Haveno-class tools are desktop/Tor (and often fiat-capable). Different job. See Haveno compare.

Is it “Telegram escrow”?
No. Telegram the messenger does not escrow. The Mini App runs a state-gated trade flow; support is /support on the official bot — not a stranger in DMs.

Can I start from fiat bank cash?
Not on Domestic Monero’s public markets. Use route 2 for fiat rails, or obtain crypto first then use 1 or 3.

What does “no KYC” mean here?
No CEX signup for this hop. Not a legal or tax exemption. What “without KYC” means.
